New OWC regional service desk opens in Kokopo

Workers and employers in the New Guinea Islands region can now access in-person claims support at the new Kokopo service desk.

The Office of Workers Compensation continues to strengthen the services it provides to injured workers, dependants and employers across Papua New Guinea. This initiative reflects the Office's commitment to administering the Workers Compensation Act 1978 fairly, efficiently and transparently.

Under the leadership of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the Office is investing in modern systems and clearer processes that reduce the time it takes to determine claims and improve the experience for everyone who interacts with the compensation scheme.

"Protecting the wellbeing of workers is at the heart of everything we do. Every claim represents a person and a family who depend on a fair and timely outcome."

Workers and employers are encouraged to make use of the online services available on this portal, including lodging and tracking claims, downloading official forms, and contacting the Office directly with any enquiry.

What this means for you

If you have an active claim, you can continue to track its progress using your reference number. Employers are reminded to keep their registration and insurance details up to date to remain compliant with their obligations under the Act.
